Curses, Blasphemies, and Obscenities: An Analysis of Strong Language
Abstract
There are substantial differences between cursing; cussing, swearing, blaspheming, muttering falseoaths, orusing profane language; andusing obscene, scatological, bad, ordirty words. Some the oretical models for this behavior include lower brain structure control over strong language, speech automaticity, and a bottom-up model of information processing. Understanding these differences will affect professional writing and interpreting professional literature.
